Coco darted quickly through the water. She nudged the door open with her tail. Inside the cave she spotted her pink shell glowing softly. She reached out and touched its smooth curve. At that moment Toy burst in. He lifted the shell and ran out. Coco called, “Wait, please!” but Toy shook his head.
Coco felt a sad tug in her heart. She hurried after Toy. The princess raced down the ladder. She pressed a gentle hand on Coco’s shoulder. “I will help you,” she said. “We are friends now. We can solve this together.” Coco looked at the princess and felt brave again.
Together they ran through the deck. They looked under barrels. They peeked behind ropes. They followed Toy’s tiny wooden footprints. They climbed over a big anchor. They counted their steps. They sang a happy tune to keep their spirits high. Their song echoed across the calm sea.
They came to bright sails billowing in the wind. Toy stood beside the tall mast. His little fists held the pink shell tight. Coco felt the sea breeze on her face. She smiled kindly. “Toy, please give the shell back,” she said softly. Toy’s wooden eyes blinked. He paused and shook his head again.
The princess stepped forward. She held out a small wooden doll. “This doll is yours,” she said. “I will give her to you so you can trade the shell.” Toy tilted his head. He looked at the doll. He looked at the shell. He tapped his foot three times. Then he let go of the shell.
Coco caught the pink shell and hugged it close. It glowed with a soft light. The secret magic in the shell whispered hope. The princess and Coco smiled at Toy. Toy’s wooden face looked happy too. He saluted the princess and Coco. He seemed to feel pride and joy in his wooden heart.
Suddenly the sea around them shimmered. Waves lifted gently. The shell began to hum a soft melody. The ship seemed to dance on the water. Colors brightened on every sail. Friends and sailors on deck clapped their hands in wonder. They felt warmth and kindness in their hearts.
Coco floated up in delight. She felt proud of her courage. She turned to the princess and said, “Thank you for helping me.” The princess bowed and said, “Thank you for trusting me.” They held fins and hands and danced a little jig.
The sailors cheered. They lifted Coco on a wooden plank for a tiny parade. They cheered again when the shell glowed brightly. The captain stepped forward. He knelt and placed a small treasure chest at Coco’s side. He said, “For your brave heart, young mermaid, I give you this gift.”
